Scholarship Opportunities

We believe that dance education should be accessible to all members of our community, and the Goh Ballet Canada Society is working to remove all barriers that may prevent promising students from accessing the training that they need to pursue a flourishing career in dance. There are currently two funding streams available as part of the Canadian Masterclass Series. All participants will be considered.

The National Scholarship Award is sponsored by the Goh Ballet Canada Society. Any student taking part in the Masterclass is automatically eligible. Criteria for awarding scholarships is based on level of output, performance and technical ability as demonstrated during the class. Awardees are selected solely at the discretion of Ms Goh. A total amount of $5,000CAD will be awarded in scholarships to participants across the country.

The Diversity Scholarship is available to gifted and persevering students who belong to or identify with underrepresented populations in the art of classical ballet. Goh Ballet Canada Society recognizes that racial, gender and physical biases may prevent promising students from accessing resources to further their dance goals. The Diversity Scholarship, with a total of $5000 to be awarded, is the start of initiatives to foster inclusion and diversity in the art form of ballet and provide those with the will a way to pursue excellence.

Relevé Ambassador Program

The CMCS Relevé Ambassador Program creates additional access to support, mentorship and to fostering inclusiveness in the world of ballet. An Ambassador will be named in each city of the CMCS tour to continue the essence of what the Series is meant to cultivate throughout the year.

An Ambassador will be selected and invited by Ms. Goh to apply in each region after the masterclass.

Overview

Presented by Goh Ballet Canada Society, CMCS: Bridge to Opportunities is a rare chance for dancers across the country to take part and train with one of this generation’s most gifted and prolific artists, Chan Hon Goh C.M., D.Litt, former Principal Dancer of the National Ballet of Canada, Artistic Director of Global Dance Challenge and General Director of Goh Ballet Academy.

Held as virtual masterclasses across Canadian cities, the program offers career-building mentorship, advanced training, and artistic development, inspiring dancers to elevate technique, deepen musicality, and bring performance quality into daily practice. Ms. Goh’s motivational approach empowers youth to grow in confidence, resilience, and artistry.

Each year, 16 deserving participants will be chosen to receive full tuition subsidies to attend Goh Ballet’s acclaimed Summer Intensive programs in Vancouver or Toronto. Additionally, ambassadors are selected to represent and champion young dancers within their local communities, serving as role models of dedication and support.
