Comprehensive summer programs for dedicated students and aspiring professionals Goh Ballet’s International Summer Intensives for Senior and Junior level students offer comprehensive educational programs that are specifically designed to assist each dancer gain technique, learn new choreographic repertoire and challenge themselves to strive for excellence. Opportunities are offered for varying levels of students. The 2020 International Summer Intensives will run from August 4-29, 2020.

During our four-week summer program, students will be assessed for possible acceptance into Goh Ballet’s annual programs including the Junior School and Senior Professional Division.

Scholarships are available for both national and international students. Goh Ballet is committed to fostering talent and supporting families needing financial assistance. More information is available upon acceptance into the program.

Senior International Summer Intensive

Goh Ballet’s International Senior Summer Intensive is especially designed for students age 14+ who are focused on exploring a professional career in dance. Participants are instructed and mentored by some of the most distinguished annual faculty members as well as prominent guest instructors. Training six days a week this intensive features a curriculum that includes Classical Ballet, Musical Theatre, Mime/Dance Acting, Pas de Deux, Repertoire, Contemporary, Men’s Work, Pilates and Health and Well-being. Programs are structured to nurture each student’s individuality to best prepare them for their future careers. Through dedicated instruction which propell progress, participants will reach new artistic heights and gain invaluable mentorship to aid career development.

Junior Summer Intensive

The Junior Summer Intensive for students ages 7 to 14 is a unique program designed to accelerate technical ability and performance skills. Classes with guest and annual faculty members are held five days per week, tailored to elevate artistic understanding. Introduction to stylistic influences such as Bournonville, Petipa and Balanchine will be incorporated into weekly training and repertoire work.

Also included in the curriculum are National Dances, Stretch and Body Conditioning as well as Dance Acting supporting students with a well-balanced outlook into the world of dance! The culmination of student’s progress and achievements will be shown at a special presentation for friends and family during the final week.

Children’s Weekly Summer Dance Workshops

Nurture your child’s creativity and love for dance with Goh Ballet’s summer workshops designed for budding dancers aged 4-7. Themed weekly workshops held for boys and girls incorporate familiar characters, stories, music, as well as arts and crafts sessions to encourage self-expression and inspire the imagination. These summer workshops will develop confidence and kindle imagination. Dates and themes for 2021 to be announced.

These weekly workshops do not require an evaluation assessment for placement. Please contact us to register today. Spaces fill quickly due to class size restrictions.

$275 + GST per 2 hour weekly workshop.
$345+GST per 3 hour weekly workshop.

Ballet Through Time Units

Students Ages 9-19

Weekly stylistic units of dance focusing on the influential eras of ballet throughout time.

Introducing a journey through the evolution of ballet! Students will study technical elements and stylistic influences of some of the most prominent and distinguished choreographers from various eras of ballet, expanding their artistic interpretation. Grouped by age and ability, classes will explore the repertoire, techniques and styles of certain periods in dance history.

Delivered in three different units of interest with each spanning the course of six days, students can either register to join all three weeks, or pick and choose between their favourite units!

Groups & Pre-Requisites

  • Group 1: Ages 15 to 19
    Students must have completed RAD Advanced 1 and/or 2 or Equivalent. Strong pointe work necessary.
  • Group 2: Ages 12 to 14
    Students must have completed RAD Intermediate Foundation/Intermediate or Equivalent. Knowledge of pointe work required.
  • Group 3: Ages 9 to 11
    Students should have completed RAD Grade 3/4/5 or Equivalent. Knowledge of pointe work not necessary.

The health and safety of our students, staff and community are of the utmost importance to us at Goh Ballet. We follow and adhere to all provincial government and health authority guidelines. Comprehensive sanitization procedures as well as health/safety protocals are in place. Class sizes have been reduced to enable physical distancing in-studio. Self-screening prior to arrival and on-site screening upon entry is requested. We acknowledge that the Covid-19 situation is ever evolving and are committed to actively monitoring and updating our solutions to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all our students, families, faculty, pianists, and staff.
