Children’s Weekly Summer Dance Workshops

Ages 4-7

Nurture your child’s creativity and love for dance with Goh Ballet’s summer workshops designed for budding dancers aged 4-7. Themed weekly workshops held for boys and girls incorporate familiar characters, stories, music, as well as arts and crafts sessions to encourage self-expression and inspire the imagination. These summer workshops will develop confidence and kindle imagination. Seven fun and familiar themes to choose from.

Pre-School Summer Ballet

July 3 – 29, 2023
Ages 4&5

A program for students ages 4 and 5 to inspire a love of movement, music and creativity!

Blossoming little dancers will explore the magic of dance while developing their understanding of basic ballet technique. Classes will focus on simple movements to help improve flexibility, balance and coordination. A great introduction to the world of ballet, during these energetic classes students will also develop a sense of rhythm and musicality, alongside being encouraged to use their imagination and show creativity.

Classes will take place once per week, making this is program perfect for families whose busy schedules cannot accommodate a week-long workshop!

Star Level 1, 2 & 3 Summer Ballet

July 10 – August 5, 2023
Ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10

A program for students ages 5-6, 7-8 and 9-10 to nurture a passion for dance!

Over the course of this four week program, students will focus on refining the fundamentals of their ballet technique, expanding their dance vocabulary as well as developing an understanding of musicality and performance interpretation. Students will learn story telling through mime, whilst developing their balance, coordination and focus. Jazz classes are also included for Star Levels 2 & 3 to encourage versatility and expressiveness.

The Star Level ballet programs are tailor-made for students looking for a program which meets less frequently, but who wish to keep up their dancing over the summer. Star Level 1 & 2 classes will be delivered twice per week between July 3 – 29, 2023. Star Level 3 will meet three times per week.

Junior & Senior Summer Intensives

7-16+

Comprehensive summer programs for dedicated students and aspiring professionals

Comprehensive summer programs for dedicated students and aspiring professionals Goh Ballet’s International Summer Intensives for Senior and Junior level students offer comprehensive educational programs that are specifically designed to assist each dancer gain technique, learn new choreographic repertoire and challenge themselves to strive for excellence. Opportunities are offered for varying levels of students.

During our four-week summer program, students will be assessed for possible acceptance into Goh Ballet’s annual programs including the Junior School and Senior Professional Division.

Scholarships are available for both national and international students. Goh Ballet is committed to fostering talent and supporting families needing financial assistance. More information is available upon acceptance into the program.

Senior International Summer Intensive

Goh Ballet’s International Senior Summer Intensive is especially designed for students age 14+ who are focused on exploring a professional career in dance. Participants are instructed and mentored by some of the most distinguished annual faculty members as well as prominent guest instructors. Training six days a week this intensive features a curriculum that includes Classical Ballet, Musical Theatre, Mime/Dance Acting, Pas de Deux, Repertoire, Contemporary, Men’s Work, Pilates and Health and Well-being. Programs are structured to nurture each student’s individuality to best prepare them for their future careers. Through dedicated instruction which propell progress, participants will reach new artistic heights and gain invaluable mentorship to aid career development.

Junior Summer Intensive

The Junior Summer Intensive for students ages 7 to 14 is a unique program designed to accelerate technical ability and performance skills. Classes with guest and annual faculty members are held five days per week, tailored to elevate artistic understanding. Introduction to stylistic influences such as Bournonville, Petipa and Balanchine will be incorporated into weekly training and repertoire work.

Also included in the curriculum are National Dances, Stretch and Body Conditioning as well as Dance Acting supporting students with a well-balanced outlook into the world of dance! The culmination of student’s progress and achievements will be shown at a special presentation for friends and family during the final week.

Starting Classical Ballet

July 3 – 29, 2023
Ages 8-11

A four-week fast track program taking place twice weekly between July 3 – 29, 2023 for students ages 8 and up with little or no dance experience who are ready to progress! For new students seeking a program to propel them to work to their best potential, Starting Classical Ballet is a wonderful chance to build foundational ballet skills and learn vocabulary whilst working with our esteemed faculty.

Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of ballet including beginning steps, terminology, musicality, focus, and expression preparing them for progression into our annual training programs. Throughout the Starting Classical Ballet program students will gain strength, focus, coordination and self-confidence. This stimulating program delivered in-studio twice weekly is perfect for helping aspiring dancers to reach the next step in their development, and fall in love with ballet along the way.

Competition & Choreographic Workshop

August 14-19, 2023
Ages 9-11, 12-14, 15-19+

During this exclusive week-long Competition and Choreographic Workshop, students will be challenged to expand on their technical and artistic development to explore diverse approaches to the creative process. This six day workshop will guide students through two competition variations and two choreographic creations which will enable tremendous insight on professional etiquette and expectations.

For the choreographic portion, the focus will be on learning structural themes and physical codes through phrasing from a choreographer. Featuring daily classes in ballet and contemporary, students will be challenged to create and put concepts to form to gain an added layer of physical and emotional personification.

Over the course of the week, participants will be encouraged to embrace their creativity which will allow for artistic advantages, attaining a better grasp of the competition and choreographic process.

Goh Get Ready Camp: Jump Start to the New School Year & Stay Ahead

August 21-26, 2023
Ages 10-12, 13-15, 15-19+

Prepare to get back to ballet for the new school year during this pre-season workshop designed to reinvigorate students’ goals. Refresh your knowledge of vocabulary, brush up on technique and execution and get back in to shape before the beginning of the new term so that you are ready to challenge yourself to push personal boundaries in the studio.

Through classes in ballet, pointe/ men’s work, contemporary, yoga, Pilates and cardio with stretch students will be encouraged to reconnect with their artistry and musicality as well as rebuild strength, stamina and improve flexibility.

Working with Goh Ballet’s esteemed faculty, don’t miss this opportunity to prepare for success and give yourself a head start on your training for the new dance year! (Full day and half day options available)

Back-To-Dance Workshop

August 21-25, 2023
Ages 5&6, 7&8, 9&10

For students who would prefer a less intensive refresher to dance, the the Back-To -Dance Workshop will meet for classes three times a week between August 21-25, 2023. Classwork will focus on a review of ballet steps and vocabulary coupled with pilates and conditioning or jazz stretch to make sure students are prepared to put their best foot forward when they get back into the studio in September!

Guest Instructors & Featured Faculty

Eva Draw, former Principal Dancer with Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet Theater, celebrated Ballet Mistress

After graduating with honours from the Bolshoi Ballet School, Ms. Draw joined the Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet Theater in 1979 and was promoted to Principal in 1981. After retiring, she became a Senior Teacher and Senior Student Advisor for the National Ballet School of Canada. In 2009, she joined the Royal Danish Ballet as a ballet mistress and teacher, where she was responsible for teaching company classes, leading rehearsals, coaching principal dancers, and staging productions. In 2022, Ms. Draw joined Goh Ballet's full-time faculty and currently guides and coaches students training in the Goh Ballet Youth Company and Senior Professional School.
