Scholarships
2006 saw a total of seven dancers awarded scholarships by the Goh Ballet Society at a presentation on February 20th.
Grant Strate and Jean Orr served as adjudicators, who not only determined the scholarship recipients, but also gave generous feedback to all of the semi-finalists, finalist and awardees. Kostya Keshyshev was awarded the inaugural Ian Robertson Scholarship. The full list of recipients includes:
Alyssa Stevens
Celine Gittens
Christl Leslie
Fei Fei Ye
James Stout
Kostya Keshyshev
Stephanie Pedlow
Following quickly on the heels of the scholarship presentation was the Society’s sold out Dim Sum Lunch on February 24th. With the inclusion of an energetic live auction, the event was both a financial success and a great opportunity for supporters of dance excellence in B.C. to mingle. We were especially pleased to welcome Vancouver City Councillor B.C. Lee, the Consul General of China, Tian Chun Yan, and new Board of Directors member Diana Liu.

June 5, 2006: The Society's annual Gala dinner was the most successful ever. The event was sold out and garnered many generous donations from others who were unable to attend. Dancers from the Youth Ensemble joined a group of stalwart volunteers to deliver to table the world-class meal prepared again this year by celebrated Chef Bruno Marti together with dynamic young chefs of the British Columbia Culinary Arts Foundation.
June 17, 2006: The Goh Ballet Society produced the Goh Ballet Youth Ensemble's amazing Year-End concert, Jardin Animee at the Centre in Vancouver for Performancing Arts. The audience was wonderful and the dancers, including all of this year's scholarship recipients, were astounding. This year's show added much new repertoire to the Ensemble, including works staged or choreographed by renowned Canadian and International dance stars, such as Anna-Marie Holmes, Gino Berti and Goh Ballet's own Choo Chiat Goh, Jia Nian Chen and Jian Rong Sheng.
