What can I wear?
Clothing – We recommend wearing anything tight fitting that you are able to move freely in. This will allow our teachers to see your muscles and give you feedback on your dance form. (ie. Yoga-wear)
Shoes – We recommend purchasing shoes if you will be taking a number of classes, however, you can try your first class in socks.
What age are your students?
Our adult ballet students range from teenagers to adults of all ages. We welcome all individuals to our classes.
How are your classes structured?
Our classes run similar to all ballet classes starting with a warm up. Occasionally they start on the floor, before moving to the barre and then to the centre.
Are the ballet classes progressive classes?
We have individuals who have been coming to our school for many years and others for their first time. The more classes you attend, the more the teacher will be able to identify areas for improvement and growth.
What is the difference between your Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 classes?
Our Beginner 1 classes are developed for those who have had little to no experience in ballet. This class is focused on introducing you to the different ballet terms and movements, while providing opportunity to promote flexibility and musicality.
The Beginner 2 classes are for those who have had some experience with ballet and feel comfortable with a faster paced class. This class builds upon the ballet foundation developed in Beginner 1 to further develop you as a dancer.
You are welcomed to come and try both classes to see which one is best suited to you.
How many people are in the class?
Because of the drop in nature of the class, it is difficult to say exactly how many people will be in your class from day to day. On average, the class size ranges from 8 to 15 people a night.
How do the teachers accommodate the varying levels in a class?
The teachers encourage everyone to work to their best level and will give individual corrections during class. Occasionally, a teacher may use a student to demonstrate a correction that will benefit all those in attendance.
Do you have parking?
No, we do not have our own parking lot. There is metered and unmetered parking along 8th Ave and Quebec St. There is also a parking lot on the corner of 7th Ave and Main St.
I previously danced when I was younger, but it has been a number of years since my last class. What do you advise me to do?
We recommend you drop in for Beginner 2 class and see if it is a good fit for you. Because of the drop in nature of the class, you are able to try both classes without committing to a single level.
I have never danced before, but my schedule does not allow me to come to Beginner 1 classes. Can I come to the other classes?
Yes, absolutely! Our teachers are accustomed to teaching classes with varying levels and will help you to the best of their ability. Our teachers aim to make your class experience a positive learning environment.
