6: The Youth Ballet Company were enthusiastically received by dignitaries from Canada and China as they performed Red Ribbon and Sleeping Beauty at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in an event supporting the Canadian Chinese Business Spring Festival Gala.
9 - 11: We welcomed back former Goh Ballet student Erica Trivett to conduct a series of modern classes and private lessons. Though born in Vancouver, Trivett’s home base is now in France and Belgium and she has been working as dancer and soloist in several international companies, including Compagnie Apostoma (Lyon), Cie. Thor (Brussels), Copenhagen International Ballet, Tanztheater Basel, Gulbenkian Ballet (Lisbon), Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Génève, Swiss International Choreographers Workshop, Oregon Ballet Theater and National Ballet of Canada.
16 - 26 , we welcome acclaimed guest instructor and choreographer Gino Berti to a 10-day residency at the Goh Ballet, teaching Jazz master classes and choreographing a new piece for the Year-End Concert. Mr. Berti’s career highlights are synonymous with the biggest musical and jazz productions of the last few decades, including Aida, Miss Saigon, The Merry Widow, the Wizard of Oz, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Guys & Dolls, Brigadoon, A Chorus Line, Anne of Green Gables, Forum, Mame, Forever Plaid, Beauty and the Beast… the list goes on. Currently he is choreographing the Miss Universe Canada Pageant, and his next project is to mount the original Broadway choreography for a production of CATS (of which he was an original member of the Canadian Company).
18: As part of our outreach programs, the Youth Ballet Company performed at Strawberry Hill Elementary School in Surrey.
29: Goh Ballet student and 2005 Genée International Competition gold medal winner Céline Gittens was triumphant again, becoming a finalist in the highly competitive Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland.
